there is maximum disctance how far Valakas can walk from spawn point. If you run with boss too far it respawn to main location.
It start to attack most damage dealers, this why it change target from tank with agro.
You should avoid walking to far near walls with boss.

Description:
During fight with Valakas we encountered something very strange multiple times so I will note all three attempts that the issue appeared, the main issue is the Boss disappearing and never to be found until its reset.
Try number 1, we engage the boss we have the tank pull the boss to the edge of the room so we can have our backs to the wall (pretty standard tactic to avoid fear). 5 minutes into the fight the boss change target to one of the nukers and disappears.
Try number 2 (different day), same tactic everything works fine, we are 1 hour and 20 minutes into the fight boss is almost dead couple players getting feared and Valakas disappears again, at this point we assume that the wall and the targeting of valakas make him move outside of zone bounds and disappear on us.
Try number 3 (today), we change tactic and we commit to fight in the center away from walls and into his lava. Tank engage the boss, we land Day of Doom and pop boss is gone again with hardly any damage done to it or anything special cast to us.
That's all the info we gathered from these attempts, I'm not even sure if its worth trying again without this getting fixed or addressed a work around.
